THE ROSE DISINTEGRATION SERIES : ARTISTS SUPPORT PLEDGE
This series has been made to support the #artistssupportpledge scheme.
The Rose Disintegration photograms were used in the award-winning experimental short film White Light, animated in the last sequence of the film. An impression of the rose left by the light shone through it onto photographic paper left a mark of the rose that over time disintegrates into an abstract pattern resembling the night sky or particles floating in a void-like sea. It signifies the death of the poet/artist in the commissioned film based on a poem by Vera Graziadei.
The works are available unframed or in dark oak frames (with museum quality glass) hand made and specifically designed for them by Dylan Shipton Framers.
“The Artists Support Pledge Scheme is a culture and economy in support of artists and makers established and led by artist Matthew Burrows on 16th March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Every time an artist reaches £1,000 of sales, they pledge to buy £200 of work from another artist.
ASP works by example, showing how a generous culture behaves and exploring the values that maintain its ethos. At the core of this is a commitment to equality of opportunity FOR ALL and an accessible platform to participate.
ASP believes that an equitable and sustainable future economically and environmentally must begin by examining the cultural values we live by; that artists are central to this debate; and that ALL artists are important in maintaining the permaculture that is our global artistic ecosystem. If one part suffers we all do.”
